What exactly is a graven image and how does it differ from an idol or false god?

Technically a graven image is anything carved.. I mean if you wanna go by the dictionary's definition of just ';graven';. So that would mean statues of George Washington or anything carved would technically be a graven image which the bible forbids. However, the actual definition of ';graven image'; is anything that deeply impacts your beliefs/thoughts/actions. Basically, it's something you've pretty much made into a god.

So I... I guess what I'm really asking is why are the first and second commandments separated rather than combined when ultimately a graven image is a false god, and thus the two commandments are saying the same thing -- ';have no gods before Me.';What exactly is a graven image and how does it differ from an idol or false god?
In the Scriptures, Hebrew words referring to idols often stress worthlessness, or they are terms of contempt. Among these are words rendered “carved or graven image” (literally, something carved out); “molten statue, image, or idol” (something cast or poured out); “horrible idol”; “vain idol” (literally, vanity); and “dungy idol.” The Greek word ei′do‧lon is rendered “idol.”

Cardinal Gibbons may distinguish between an image and an idol and insist that an image is merely an aid to worship, but when pilgrimages are made to a particular image, then the image has taken on a value of its own, in direct violation of God’s command against giving honor to a graven thing. What exactly is a graven image and how does it differ from an idol or false god?
Basically this commandment was meant to stop people from making images of God in the form of animals, or forces of nature, ect.
The making is equally forbidden as the worshipping.

Is the image of Jim Darwin on a piece of toast a false idol or just creative art?

Miracles happen to those who believe in them. :) Get Jim Darwin to clearly appear on some toast at the home of ';imacatholic2'; and then we're cookin with gas!Is the image of Jim Darwin on a piece of toast a false idol or just creative art?
Been playing in the jelly again? ;)
How did you manage that one? The old butter trick?

The more important question would be how much could you get for it on eBay.
I think you can put it on E-Bay and get a fortune for it.
Is this a shot at Catholicism?
Thjat depends on how you approach it; with reverence and awe, or with butter and jelly.
Just tragic toasting.
Maybe both. I worship it and enjoy its cheese-filled goodness at the same time.
It depends, did it just appear, or did you create an impression of ';Jimmy'; on your toast?
I have a toaster that makes Mickey Mouse faces.

Does that count?
Ooops! Sorry, I eated it.

True.True or False-vey: There's too much focus these days on body image?
If it were about health, that would actually be great -- there's no denying that most people eat junk and don't get enough physical activity, so most people are overweight to some degree -- I could probably stand to lose a few pounds myself.

But we both know that, sadly, it isn't about health, it's about some artificial standard of beauty that actually ends up causing some people to do UNhealthy things, and others to develop unhealthy psyches.

Fortunately, the topic is out there, so maybe more people are at least thinking about it.
True. Im obsessed with not being fat. I think about it all day every day. I blame alot of my problems on it. I refuse to believe that the way I look is alright.
Hollywood and the fashion industry are killing our kids because of it's self conscious effort to project false images of what is beautiful and what is ugly!!!!
Definitely true! It is exhausting to keep up with today's body image.
I bet a skinny person wouldn't have asked this question.
Yes, most definitely. Women wearing size 10 is considered plus size. That's insane.

  • True or false- modern politics have alot more to do with PR campaigns, spinsters, and image rather than issues

I am an old political science master's graduate and cannot believe how the use of focus groups have changed modern day politics. Has much more to do with public relations rather than issues. The problem is, if the president (or any other politician for that matter) is simply echoing back what he was told to say by advisors who studied a focus group, where does he really stand on the issue? This is the current problem we are facing with the Iraq mess. Bad news is somehow spinned into good news. And the president is getting advice from Karl Rove and other advisors on what words to use and what words not to use based on focus groups and random polls. Meanwhile, the root of the issue is ignored and debate is stifled. I am not exclusively picking on Bush either. Clinton was the king of using polls and focus groups to spin information. And in the end, you weren't really sure what he personally stood for.True or false- modern politics have alot more to do with PR campaigns, spinsters, and image rather than issues
So true. I have a bachelors in both Political Science and Public Relations. I found that they both go hand in to preserve the politicians image more so than the issues. Now a days its like pulling a tooth to see where they actually stand on the issues. It is all '; what is their approval rating'; and, ';what was said about them in the newspaper?'; And they have all of these people around them advising them. I feel that most (not all) politicians now a days cant think for themselves.

unreal. And frusterating for starters. In my opinion enough of these wealthy lawyers running for office. How about someone who has had to work for a living?True or false- modern politics have alot more to do with PR campaigns, spinsters, and image rather than issues
I think its easier to see what President Bush stands for. He stands for this country. It was also easy to see what clinton stood for. He stood for bill clinton. I can see passed the focus groups and straight through to the person. I haven't been fooled yet by this method, and I have no reason to believe I will be fooled in the future.
You are totally right. And it is a shame people fall for the spin rather than the issues.
    true.

It also has a lot to do with organized crime. I've come to the conclusion that all countries are run by people who would be criminals if it weren't for politics.
....in the U.S. it's the opiate of the masses.
    True
True! They seem to do things just to get good public standing, but I think that the big issue is that they are pulled too hard by their parties! Everyone knows that an independent will never get elected to any serious position, so they need to take some positions for their parties that they may not be in wholehearted agreement with. It really bothers me too that it seems that politics now are like little kids' dodgeball teams. There is so much bickering between the parties that they seem to refuse to come together on certain problems they both see. Watch someone come into office when the other party has just held majority and you'll see them do things just trying to reverse what their 'enemies' have done before them. Look at Clinton taking keys off the keyboards after he was finally done in office!

What is a false prophet and what is the image of the beast i know but do you?

oh yea the mark of the beast what is it and why do they put it on the lambs of GodWhat is a false prophet and what is the image of the beast i know but do you?
a false prophet is some one who is suppose to follow God nut preaches a false message. The false prophet in revelation is a person of the one world religion who diverts worship to the antichrist as god. hence his name a preacher who teaches a false message.

the image of the beast is a image of the world leader who died and had control over the whole world. the image could well be the digital image that was used by prince charles that makes it appear the person is actually there but is not.

it is a device that keeps tract of people and lets them buy and sell.

its used as a mark for those who follow the antichrist.

its not put on the lambs of God but those who worship the beastWhat is a false prophet and what is the image of the beast i know but do you?
The false prophet is the UN that came out of the abyss. It was called The League of Nations,it was as if slaughtered but came back as the United Nations. The beast is the Governmental sytem all over the world that puts everyone under compulsion to follow it.In many nations like Africa they have been denied purchasing a home, buying food and jobs because they would not purchase a small card that would be showing that they supported the Government. If you tell this in your church you might get into trouble.
Since all of xtianity is false prophecy and a false religion - that is the beast and xtians have tried forcing it on innocent people throughout history.

You think xtians live in fear because they're on the right path? God says he sends a blast of terror to his enemies.

There are no demons or hell in Judaism, but the xtian old testament inserted those beliefs into Jewish scripture.

The answer you revealed seems to mix American or possibly Native Ameican folklore with part of Revelation.

The beast, the number of whom was 666, was the Roman Emperor Nero. The whore of Babylon was code for Rome; she sits on seven hills. And the mark of the beast seems to be some badge, tattoo or brand, that allowed economic activity within the Roman Empire. The author of Revelation was prophesying the fall of Rome and its empire in the 1st century. It didn't of course happen until hundreds of years later. I should mention that Rome was called Babylon in Revelation as metaphor for an imperial power.

Image is everything. True or False?

Image is what determines who you are to some people. Just one look at how you're dress can make you good or bad material. What I mean is that if you go around dressing in too short pants and to revealing tops, most people will call you a s*** on first glance. Same as wearing too big jackets with the hood and sagging pants, guys. You'll be placed into the thug category. You can have a 4.0 GPA and heading to Harvard, but your image will overshadow you good accomplishments. If you want to be known for your intelligence, dress intelligent. Nice, clean shirt and pants that actually fit (for guys), or a nice outfit that covers the obvious places (for girls.)

I want ya'll opinion. Do you think that if you dress a certain way (gangsta, thug, s***, emo, etc.) you'll be placed into that category even though you're not what you promote? You can be the next Bill Gates, but be passed over because you dress like a wannabe thug.

    Just wondering

    Please and Thankyou

~Mallet ProImage is everything. True or False?
Everyone does this even if they say they do not. Im not a judgemental person, but when i see a person in all black with a trench coat i shudder a little, im only human. I believe that it isnt right, but would go into an interview dressed in a halter top and short shorts? First impressions are the most important and the first thing that people is image unfortuneltly. I dont think that girsl should wear revealing clothing, and more and more young girls are! they have thongs in the little girls section for cryin out lound! I dont think that image is everything, but it is a factor and people should be able to express themselves, but there is a time and a place to do so.Image is everything. True or False?
honestly yes thats what happens people base their opinions of others based on the way they look which sounds stupid but it happens all the time and everyone does it and if you deny it then your just lying to yourself.

what matters though is what you do in return. what i mean is sure you can be placed into those categories but it doesn't mean thats who you are as a person. you can break through and show people that and proove to them that your not just some emo or goth or gangster or prep whatever but that you are something much more.
You are right on a Target. But, in my opinion, you should be yourself and dress appropriate at all time. Then no one judges you. Happy new you 2008 and welcome any time.
TRUE...my bf and i talked about this today about how you wouldn't buy a car, house, stocks, etc off some one who was dirty, poorly dressed or wearing Kmart clothes because if you can't afford to look nice at your job then why would i want to give you my money or time they can't handle

older ppl that own these business and invite you to these big colleges don't understand and or like this new way kids are dress and won't give them the time of day
I agree you can dress a certain way and not be in that category. I dress like a prep, but don't act how many consider them to act I am shy and consider myself nice. Most people consider Preps to be the complete opposite of my personality. And it's not fair, people think that image is everything and it gets overshadowed by personality.
yes, it's true. no, it isn't fair. I've been stereotyped, I've been friends with people who have been stereotyped. People were told to stay away from me JUST because I was friends with the guy everyone loved to hate. did they know he was extremely nice and a dedicated teen father? no. did they care? no. people are always going to be hurtful and shallow by not giving someone a chance because of how they look. I've been at the lower end of the chain to learn to never do it.
    Absolutely false
Sad but true, this is the way the world works.
true... most of the time. Unless people really know you.
Yes, I think appearances are VERY important in our society. I'm a school teacher and am constantly judged, not necessarily by how I dress but by my career. There are certain things that people think teachers should not do, like go to bars, like heavy metal music, like black nail polish. I wish everyone were able to just be themselves but I don't truly think that our society will ever accept people for who they are!
Mainly it's actually self-image. If you aren't happy with how you look then nobody will be.

Make yourself look how you want to look but try to dress within a certain code. Obviously don't dress in black unless you have a reason for it or unless it looks good and black isn't the main colour. Mostly certain groups have certain colours but what makes a person unique is their own combination of colours in which they wear most of the time. Make those colours unique to you and change them according to the seasons - lighter shades for summer and darker shades for winter and vice versa.

I have light skin and dark brown hair so I've chosen my colours to be chocolate brown, white, light pink and pastel colours when there's a variation. Even though people deny it, image does mean something as to how you present yourself but it isn't everything. Your personality also helps with making a descision on what kind of person you are.
Problem is, people (teens) don't dress as to who they are. They dress to impress. To put out a certain image that isn't even them.
    YOU ARE RIGHT ON
well if someone walks by and sees you in short pants and a revealing top but you get strait A's then there going to think your a s*** but if the person knows you they might see the real you.

TRUE or FALSE: The western image of Santa Claus was created by Coke to take the place of Milk and cookies ...?

Sundblom's depictions of Santa Claus was purely a hard driven campaign

by Coca - Cola to further the dropping sales of their ';summertime'; product

    and to make the public aware that Coke was the ';pause that refreshes';

    all the year around ....

Coca Cola's main goal was to give rise to the notion that Santa did not

care for ';cookies and milk'; and that Coke was a much better choice for

    the long haul ....

Coca Cola sales had indeed skyrocketed to the point that not even Coca

Cola was prepared for... Their product was to become almost a permanent

    fixture in everyone's household due in part to the '; jolly old elf ';

Coca Cola's marketing scheme had actually changed everyone's perception

of Santa Claus and had become a footnote in American History

    True or False ??

***TRUE or FALSE: The western image of Santa Claus was created by Coke to take the place of Milk and cookies ...?
Depends what you mean by ';Western Image';. In ';A Visit from St. Nicholas'; (aka Twas the Night Before Christmas), Santa is already described as ';dressed all in fur from his head to his foot';, ';had a broad face and little round belly';, twinkling eyes, merry dimples, a pipe, cherry cheeks, a beard as white as snow, jolly old elf, chubby, and plump. It also touches on his reindeer, his pack of gifts, filling stockings, and sliding down the chimney - all ideas that we still embrace in our ';Western'; vision of Santa Claus. The poem was published in 1823, and Coke was not invented until 1885. Though the specific Coke representation may well be a fixture here in North America, I don't think that it can take full credit for the overall ';Santa Claus'; image....it is an interpretation of an idea that already existed IMO.TRUE or FALSE: The western image of Santa Claus was created by Coke to take the place of Milk and cookies ...?
False, My Parents and Grand Parents gave us Kids great Christmas Festivities, before Coke and the media was widespread. Can anybody really think Coke was advertising (and Marketing it's Santa Claus image) in the 30s, 40s and early 50s on the radio. TV was in it's infancy in the 50s, and I don't remember Coke commercials from those early shows, although they have great Texaco, Timex and other great ads.....!!
    TRUE
I will have to go with True on this one...

Is a crucifix a false god, or is it an image of the true God?

Related question: Did God become visible in the person of Jesus Christ? Is a crucifix a false god, or is it an image of the true God?
Christ is God. Therefore the crucifix is an image of God, at the moment of our salvation. Yes, God became human in the Person of Jesus Christ, just as the Bible tells us.Is a crucifix a false god, or is it an image of the true God?
The Crucifix was an ancient dreaded device. Christ is the image of the invisible God.

    The New Testament

No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. (John 1:18)

Jesus said to him, ';He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?'; (John 14:9)

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. (Col. 1:15)
A crucifix is an _icon_, much like the unadorned cross of some of the protestant sects, the flowers on the altar, the altar itself if present..

All these things _should_ be used to point to the glory of God and to remind us of the sacrifice of Jesus and His subsequent resurrection.

Cross has a long history, only adopted by Christians as a symbol..same as it served as a symbol for many different things trough history:

    Cross:

    cross symbol

the basic shape of a cross, has since prehistoric times

been employed in almost every culture throughout the

world and all the roughly similar shapes of cross

    symbols have wildly different meanings.

the cross variously symbolized health, fertility, life,

immortality, the union of heaven and earth, spirit and

matter, the sun, the stars... it is seen a world centre and

a cosmic axis, the cross represents the human form,

with its four cardinal points it can be mapped to fourfold

    systems: the four directions: north, south, east, and west;

the 4 seasons; the four elements; the four winds...

Your related question, in my opinion, is the key here, in that you're missing the mark on that question.

The more appropriate question would be, did God in the Person of Jesus Christ take on a physical body?

    God being visible, in and of itself, would not be sufficient to make a crucifix valid. God was visible at various times in the Old Testament, such as when Moses saw Him, or in Christ's preincarnate appearances as ';the Angel of the LORD.';

What makes a crucifix a valid representation of God is the fact that God has now taken on a physical body, and therefore a statue of Him is no different than a statue of any other person.
It is a symbol to remind people of the sacrifice that He made for us. Without His blood, we could not be cleansed and made whole. The cross is precious to many people, and I respect that deeply.

Yet, to me, it is an incomplete symbol. I consider the fact that He was resurrected to be just as important as the sacrifice that He made for us.

I also believe that when He was resurrected, He took up His body, now perfected and glorified. I do not believe that He transmogrified into something different after He ascended to heaven.
The crucifix should only be seen as a reminder. There is no doctrine that suggests posting or carrying any object or image brings us protection or blessings.

However, God does use symbols to teach us. For example, the staff and serpent of moses represented Christ. We see it on our ambulances today. It represents being saved.

Personally, in my church we do not have any images in our worship halls. We worship with words, singing, music, and our prayers. We keep the paintings and images of Christ and various moments in the scriptures in our hallways, classrooms, and offices.

In our homes we place images or photographs of things that inspire us and can invite meaningful thought toward God.

If my dad was killed by a drunk driver while working to support our family, thus sacrificing for us, I wouldn't take a picture of the car that killed him and put it on my wall just so I could remember how my dad died trying to save my family from poverty.

It is true that God, known as Jehovah in the OT, came to earth in flesh to teach us in the flesh and die for us making it possible for the resurrection and salvation from sin; he conquered physical and spiritual death for us. There was no other way, other than a perfect being to do this. It had to be a Godly sacrifice. No human can do it and neither could a God who already had a body do it. Jehovah-Christ had to do it because instead of enjoying his body like we all do, he offered to die instead of living on with the gift we all get when we come to this earth, which is a physical body.

EDIT: crosses were Roman instruments of death. While Christ's death was important, the suffering he went through in the Garden of Gethsemane, the abuse by the hands of the Jews and Romans, and the spiritual or atoning he did on the cross is more so. Also, Heavenly Father and Jehovah are not the same beings.
The question you SHOULD be asking, is can you imagine your God without the crucifix there to put a face to the diety? Do you have idea what he looks like, what his temperament is? His intention towards you?

Most importantly...does he NEED a face or a name?

Does it matter is Jesus appeared physically, or if he was the symptom of some poor psychotic's hallucination? Either believe in him or don't. If he's real, and his nature is as the bible says, it doesn't matter if he's solid or not.
A crucifix can become an idol, if someone worships it directly rather than worshiping God. I have a crucifix necklace, if you stole it or snatched it from me and bent it to pieces in front of my face I'd wonder at your sanity but I'd just go buy another one. I don't worship a crucifix.

It is not an image of the true God, it's a symbol of the price Jesus had to pay for us.

Yes, Jesus is God in the flesh.
Christian Perspective: A crucifix is a Christian way of remembering how Jesus died for our sins.

Muslim Perspective: Jesus is not the son of God and he is a prophet, he never died on the cross, he was sent back to God. The crucifix is false and it happened to a Jesus look-alike sent by God.

Jewish Perspective: We killed Jesus and we got our punishment and the crucifix is true except it didn't happen to a God, it happened to a false prophet.

EDIT: I don't have a religion for say, but I seem to lean more on the Jewish/Muslim perspective.. Because the Bible had been translated so many times that it lost it's meaning and even the Hebrew version had been lost.. I think it doesn't make sense that God would send his son to be tortured like that and to die on the cross and be humiliated in front of all these people... And at the same time it says in the Bible that you wish to others what you wish for yourself and you think of people around you before you think of yourself.. Meaning that if God did really send his son to earth, God would be selfish and hypocritical, which God isn't... See where I'm going with this??

EDIT: Although I respect the fact that you are a Christian, God bless you..
    Niether.

It is a lovely piece of special jewelry and as in Churches, etc it is a reminder that Jesus died on the cross, and is Risen, he is no longer there!

2nd Q, Yes, as Jesus grew in stature and Wisdom...
God came to earth in physical form as Jesus Christ.

A crucifix(a cross with jesus on it) or just a cross(by itself) are just symbols of our faith; we do not ';worship'; the cross, we worship the one who was on it.
Yes God became visible in the person of Jesus. Why did Jesus Christ did this. You may know by now that Man disobeyed God and so there was that separation from Him. No ordinary man could have been possible or enough to make up for Man's sins. It could only be done by God Himself. So Jesus Christ as from many, many years was predicted that He will come to justify all the sins. In the Old Testaments He was referred as Messiah or Deliverer. Unfortunately many Jews believed that this was going to be one who would put up an army to free them from their rulers. However many prophets did write that He would be to free us from the spiritual bonds and make us children of God worthy to inherit heavenly earth. In the last three years of Jesus you can find various instances where Jesus turn to the Father to thank Him, especially before doing miracles. In fact He was accused of making Himself God because of this. When Jesus was being baptized by St. John a voice was heard saying that '; This is my son, follow Him';. Even on the mount Tabor . Read slowly the gospel of St. John where he relates what happened during the Last Supper. There are long chapters where Jesus speaks directly to the Father and makes it clear the relationship between them. Still they were one and yes again God showed Himself in the person of Christ. Surely the crucifix then is not a false god but what the love of God to man. St. Paul tells us that there is no bigger love than to give your life to others and in the case to sinners. The crucifix is the best show of God love towards us.
    Not a false god.

Jesus says, ';Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends'; (John 15:13). Jesus displayed on the Cross displays Jesus' unconditional passionate endless love and His infinite mercy He has for all of us, who He also considers us to be His friends. Although Jesus is no longer on the Cross, His passionate unconditional endless love, and offering Himself to all of us as our Merciful Savior, continues to this day.

Hebrews 12:2 - Here St. Paul says Jesus is our example in enduring the Cross and we fix our eyes on the Cross of Jesus so we too do not grow weary and lose heart. How then can we be followers of Christ carrying our cross without fixing our eyes on the Cross of Jesus?

';WE PREACH CHRIST CRUCIFIED, a stumbling block to Jews, and folly to Gentiles, but those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God (1Corinthians 1:23-24). He again says, ';When I came to you, brethren, I did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God in lofty words or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified'; (1Corinthians 2:1-2). True, our Christian faith is in vain without the Resurrection of Jesus (1Corinthians 15:17), but it was the CRUCIFIXION of Jesus that paid for our sins. We cannot preach Jesus' Resurrection without also preaching Jesus' Crucifixion. For the Resurrection to have happened had to begin with the Crucifixion. How can we worship the risen Jesus without also worshipping the Jesus who died for our sins?

Jesus also does not want us to look at His Crucifixion as only a past event. When He appeared to the apostles after His Resurrection and in His glorified risen Body He showed them His wounds from His Crucifixion (Luke 24:39-40 %26amp; John 20:20). Why would Jesus keep those wounds from His Crucifixion if He didn't want us to remember His Crucifixion and everything He gives to us through His Cross such as His passionate unconditional endless love and infinite mercy?

It's not the image itself that is worshipped, but the PERSON the image represents.

St. Paul also says, ';the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God'; (1Corinthians 1:18). I'm proud to wear my Crucifix. The Crucifix displays God's passionate unconditional endless love and His infinite mercy for us. It is sad that some people, especially professing Christians, are offended when they see a Crucifix and have this need to criticize it.

Jesus is God Incarnate and the crucifix is the great sign of Incarnate Love and salvation through Him who is now Risen!
A crucifix is a symbol for remembering Christ's sacrifice, much like you would keep a picture of your child on your desk.
It's a symbol whose meaning is debated and reviled yet still persists.
Nope. A crucifix is just a trinket used to remind someone of their personal faith. But, if you seriously believe in the bible, it IS a graven image, which still makes it a sin. So it's still a sin, just a different sin. See, if you read your bible, it states that man is not to fashion ';graven images';. In other words, you're not supposed to create things that don't have a practical purpose, like farming impliments, shelters, clothes, etc. Things like paintings, sculptures, wood carvings, and anything else depicting the world is a graven image by biblical definition, and ';god'; gets mad when man tries to create things on his own. He doesn't like his subjects to think or use their imagination.
If you want to know the TRUTH about such, Read The Anointed, The Elect, and The Damned! The Cross is an EMBLEM OF DEATH!

Your 2nd question - The letter 'J' didn't exist until 1359. Do the math and figure out for yourself how long that LIE has been perpetuated!
A crucifix is an idol and an imagine of torture not a symbol of God

Is there a danger in religions and spirituality of making an image of your own personality into a false deity?

No, but there is grave danger of imagining yourself to be any or all of the following: liberated, tolerant, open-minded, enlightened, loving, kind, generous, selfless, honest, correct, balanced, grounded...

It is a well-known fact that people imagine themselves to already have acquired the characteristics they value and wish for. Spirituality is the greatest source of such delusion.

Wait...did you mean Y!A R%26amp;S? Sorry, my bad. Pass.Is there a danger in religions and spirituality of making an image of your own personality into a false deity?
its been done first with the christians i think hitler had a go the was a few roman emperors and some pharoesIs there a danger in religions and spirituality of making an image of your own personality into a false deity?
not that I've ever heard of.

but then again we are all part of god, and have part of god within us, (part of that whole ';in my image'; thing)

Satanism of course puts youself as God, but thats different from what you mean I think.

I don't think you understand what spirituality is about.

you don't have to worship god blind.... you CAN have a personal relationship with your God, and thats a good thing.
as far as spirituality is concerned, I wouldn't call it a danger, but it is where you stop growing and close yourself off to something greater that you could learn
    Yes very much so.
If you are religious at all, you know any false deity is wrong, no matter what it is. Man cannot serve two masters.
    Yes - but I'm not sure it should be considered a ';danger.';
I suppose that all depends on how dangerous your personality is.
Are you just talking about in this answer category, Religion %26amp; Spirituality, or in general?
i definitely think that is a danger, in any religion/spirituality across the board. even if it is not the most direct image, personality can still bear heavily on your worldview.

True or false If you move an image from the specified location, it will still appear on the web page. ?

    Depends WHEN you move it!

User loads the page: the image shows AND is saved in the cache of the browser.

Now, you delete it (move it) from your server.

The image still show on the user's screen.

The user makes a ';refresh'; (calls the page again). Depending on the browser, the image can be shown FROM the cache (hence, is visible), or awaited from the server (and will never come, hence, not visible).

But in general, you could answer ';FALSE';.True or false If you move an image from the specified location, it will still appear on the web page. ?
depends on the browser and the cache it holds. if the browser has been set to hold images in cache (big cache, basically), it MAY show the image.True or false If you move an image from the specified location, it will still appear on the web page. ?
    False:

If the image path does not connect to that specific image it will not show up at all in FF and will give a red X box in IE.

True or false when you look at the image of a candle in a plane mirror, you see a real image?

false, the image is virtual (behind the mirror) and unable to be projected on a screenTrue or false when you look at the image of a candle in a plane mirror, you see a real image?
A plane mirror makes an image called a virtual image. Light rays appear to emanate from virtual images, but that is not really the case. A standard ';test'; for a virtual image is whether or not it can be projected onto a screen. If you placed a screen at the point behind the mirror where the image appears, would you see an image on the screen? By contrast, there are images from which light really emanates, such as an image created by a movie projector lens. A real image can be projected onto a screen.True or false when you look at the image of a candle in a plane mirror, you see a real image?
False. Images in mirrors are 'virtual' images.

A real image is one you can actually project on a screen

    (like by using a lens).

TRUE or FALSE: The western image of Santa Claus was created by Coke to take the place of milk and cookies ...?

Sundblom's depictions of Santa Claus was purely a hard driven campaign

by Coca - Cola to further the dropping sales of their ';summertime'; product

    and to make the public aware that Coke was the ';pause that refreshes';

    all the year around ....

Coca Cola's main goal was to give rise to the notion that Santa did not

care for ';cookies and milk'; and that Coke was a much better choice for

    the long haul ....

Coca Cola sales had indeed skyrocketed to the point that not even Coca

Cola was prepared for... Their product was to become almost a permanent

    fixture in everyone's household due in part to the '; jolly old elf ';

Coca Cola's marketing scheme had actually changed everyone's perception

of Santa Claus and had become a footnote in American History

    ***

    True or False ??

***TRUE or FALSE: The western image of Santa Claus was created by Coke to take the place of milk and cookies ...?
False. While Coke does use Santa to boost sales during the Christmas season, it is not to replace the milk and cookies. I've seen images in the past on Coke cans show Santa with a bottle of Coke in one hand, a plate with a lot of crumbs and one half finished cookie, and an empty milk glass suggesting Santa's finished the milk and cookies and now he's enjoying a Coke

Consider the image from the recent holiday special Prep and Landing showing the two elves at the very start checking the temperature of the milk and whether or not there are nuts in the cookies. According to that image Santa wants cold milk and chocolate chip cookies without nuts in them. Santa's not going care if there are nuts in the cookies or not, and by the time he actually arrives the milk will at best be cool and more likely will be room temperature. But the image is more likely to make folks think he only likes plain chocolate chip cookies and a cold glass of milk.

Then there's Target's recent Santa's a last minute shopper commercial. Santa's seen runing through the parking lot to get into a Target store because he forgot to do his Christmas shopping and now he's got to get all the toys on kids whish lists. Santa doing Christmas shopping? Target isn't the only one guilty of showing Santa doing Christmas shopping, in fact Sears even has it being suggested that not only does he do Christmas shopping at their store but he'll let them do all his deliveries as well cause the reindeer refuse to haul the presents. Saying he's doing any Christmas shopping at all is comepletly throwing out the idea of the elves and Santa's workshop where he and the elves produce all the presents. But to show him doing last minute shopping is to say that for 364 day (365 during a leap year) Santa believes he's got better things to do than get presents ready for Christmas and now he's got to rush to get things to deliver.

Yet it's good marketing. ';The man who gives out the most presents comes to us to do his last minute Christmas shopping. If we can help him, we can help you.'; Does this mean we no longer picture Santa making toys? No, it doesn't change our picture of him as a toy maker. It merely gets us to consider Target as the place to go and do our Christmas shopping. The same thing for Sears and other stores that use Santa in their advertisements. ';Santa comes to us to do his Christmas shopping. If we can help him, we can help you.'; Our image of Santa remains the same, but we are more apt to consider those stores for our Chirstmas shopping.

We seperate the commercial Santa from the real Santa. The commercial Santa gets us to buy that product or shop in that store. The real Santa is the one we want to hear about, the one dressed all in red who delivers presents himself on Christmas Eve in a sleigh drawn by eight reindeer. When we think of the real Santa we picture the description by Clement Clarke Moore in ';A Visit from St. Nicholas'; and the imagry originally conjured up by Thomas Nast. And neither depicted him eating milk and cookies.TRUE or FALSE: The western image of Santa Claus was created by Coke to take the place of milk and cookies ...?
    False.

That is a myth perpetuated by the Coca Cola Company.

The Modern depiction of Santa Claus came from two sources. The poem ';A Visit from Saint Nicholas'; better known as ';The Night Before Christmas'; by Clement Clarke Moore, written in 1823. And the illustration by Thomas Nast published in Harper's Weekly in 1863.

We just went over this very same thing in my American Studies Class.
Give me a break! The American Tradition of Santa Claus comes from the traditions of St. Nicholas (of Russia) ,Kris Kringle (Austria), Father Christmas (or Pere' Noel - France) of hundreds of years ago. As the immigrants from Europe came to the US, these traditions gradually folded over into the modern day Santa Claus traditions.

Created by Coke? You're kidding right? Their marketing department should be so creative!

Is (DNIE) digital natural image engine a false propoganda to promote samsung tv sales?

    I find that it really is a new technological advance. They are utilizing many new technologies to enable;

    (Any Source) %26gt; (DNIe)

I have read some of the material offered on their site. They are indeed using innovative technologies to create the best image possible, regardless of the source, i.e., Cable, Digital, Game, DVD player, etc.

Here is the site where I read (not in detail, but enough to see they are utilizing new innovations) about the technology. When you go to this site; in the upper portion, look to your right, there is a Words-Link to the DNIe Technology pages.

    http://product.samsung.com/dnie/

You will be given a demonstration that displays some of their technological advances. If I had the desire, and the money, to experience the best picture in television to date, I would indeed choose the Samsung with DNIe Technology.

I hope this has asnwered your question to your satisfaction.

Is there a black crime wave against Anglo America or are crime statistics being used to make a false image ?

I notice a number of people post statistics concerning a supposedly large share of the black on white crime.

But, since black crime is mostly by inner city gang members, I'm wondering what type of ';whites'; do black gang members have access to ?

I mean if a gang member fights/rapes/kills light skinned Hispanics of a rival gang (Mexican, P.R., etc) in a gang war, beats a light Puerto Rican girl friend, robs a white Jewish (or Armenian, Indian) shop owner, insults a EurAsian social worker, quarrels with a light Arab used car dealer, %26amp; etc , . . . . these will all be recorded as black on white crime.

But, none of these people -- officially recorded as white by legal officials -- would be socially accepted as a ';white aryan'; by those who use them: many on the right %26amp; almost all on the far right.

So, isn't using to portray white victimhood in crime statistics kind of dishonest ???Is there a black crime wave against Anglo America or are crime statistics being used to make a false image ?
Black people commit more crimes against each other than they do against white people. Is there a black crime wave against Anglo America or are crime statistics being used to make a false image ?
Statistics are one of many tools used by the elite to maintain division of the common people. ';White'; people blame, fear, and distrust ';black'; people. ';Black'; people blame, fear, and distrust ';white'; people. And so on...
It's how the establishment stays in power. Scaring folks (Bush's War) Besides the biggest crime in the history of the world was enslaving a whole country and threating them like subhumans. Remenber fear rules the day.
Over 50% of all of the violent crime in America is committed by just 5% of the population...young black males. That statistic is pretty meaningless to most blacks though, because so few of them understand statistics.
Fear gains leverage for the current powers that be so that those same powers may continue their works indefinitely; dishonesty is but one of the many weapons used in the war against our humanity...

Do you think promoting the ';BBW'; image gives women a false sense of security?

There is nothing wrong with a woman being a little overweight, but when you obese women being ';confident'; and content with their bodies, there is something wrong.

With the US and UK now facing obesity epidemics do you think more could be done to promote healthier women?Do you think promoting the ';BBW'; image gives women a false sense of security?
Yes it does give them a false sense of security, and seems to breed animosity, where there can only be two groups of people, those that are rail thin, and those that are not.

In my opinion rail thin people are just as disgusting as BBW's. Neither one is normal or healthy.Do you think promoting the ';BBW'; image gives women a false sense of security?
There is a vast difference between a Big Beautiful Woman and someone who is grossly obese. A BBW is a woman who junoesque, statuesque, robust woman. Think of the model Emme, who is indeed a BBW. She is tall, stately, filled out. WHat she does not have is rolls of flab hanging over her skirtwaist or slabs of flesh hanging from her arms. Some people are just bigger, more filled out than others. These people are every bit as attractive as a thin person. But obesity means that one is just carrying a bunch of fat around that will eventually suffocate them.

BBW is good is the person actually fits the definition. Obese is bad. And come on people, we know the difference. If at one time you were a size 5 and are now a size 20, you aren't a BBW, you are just fat.
I have no idea who is a BBW and who isn't.

I will never be a size 4. Probably not even a size 6. I wear a size 8-9 depending on who makes the outfit in question.

But I would consider myself a healthy person. I work out at least 5 times a week and try to eat healthy. Some women are considered ';big'; but are actually not so obese at all. And they make the effort to take care of themselves.

Western culture focuses entirely too much on how someone looks, and not the deeper issue of how they treat their bodies.

Instead of trying to define someone as Big and Beautiful to make them feel good about themselves, we should already be treating these people as human beings anyway. What we need to focus on is health choices. Some people are fat because they have absolutely no clue how to be healthy.

In the states, where everything except a woman is better when it's bigger, we've lost control of our portion sizes completely. To top it off, many folks have no idea how to start an exercise program that's adequate for their calorie burning needs and overall heart health.

The emphasis needs to be on educating people on their own health, not knocking them down or sheltering them based on their appearance. Ditto for men too. It's always okay for men to be fat it seems, but really no one wants to look at your saggy tummies.
I've been 30 lbs overweight in my life, couldn't quite achieve BBW status. It was easier to lose some weight. I think very few really, really obese women think they are beautiful. If it makes them feel better to call themselves BBWs, okay. Men who are really large like to think of themselves as the ';teddy bear'; type. I don't think the BBW promotes obesity. Really large women aren't blind to the fact that they get less love and attention from the world.

I classify BBWs as women who are size 18-20 and over in today's sizes. I am an 8 and there are people that think I'm too fat. At least I try.
I think it helps a woman who is big and beautiful feel better about herself. If she feels better about herself, she may treat herself better. That means she might take some me-time to work out, and if she likes her body she might choose better foods to for it.

I think it's also a reaction to the other extreme. Hopefully some day we can find a sensible middle ground.
There are shed loads of BBW pron out there, so obviously there are lots of men who like it. It's not exactly unnatural. Fat women have been popular at various stages of history.

Regarding health, Bonzai Betty has the best answer. Regarding sexuality, no. There's plenty of demand out there.

    Bob
Yes, I hate that people feel like either ou have to be a size zero, or you can be any size you want.

We should promote the healthy body weight, which really has huge variability.

For my height of 5'6'' I could be anywhere from 118 to 155 and be considered healthy.
I don't think it ''does'' anything other than make the person doing the promoting look ridiculous and deluded.

I mean, lets face it, what it certainly does not do is make even a single man change his mind about the unattractiveness of overweight women.
I'm honestly not into fat chicks, its just the way it is for me. Yes I do think lately fat is becoming more and more acceptable. I see girls saying their best part of them are ';my curves'; when they are clearly wayyyyy more than curves.

We need to really fix this problem in America. It will save everyone money from wasting it on food.
I don't believe that image is being promoted for the truly obese but for those who weigh more than they should. Staying at that particular weight even if it means being overweight, is far healthier than ';yo-yo dieting';.
Obesity should never be accepted by society.

Please clarify what this acronym ';BBW'; refers to. Thank you.

    ************

ADD: Thank you, greatly to all those who clarified what BBW stands for, you are great people..
@Gaspari: BBW =BIG (BLACK, ******, BUTCH, BUTT) WOMEN,

What does it mean to have seen this false image?

Okay, so I moved into a new house almost a year ago and immediately started seeing and hearing weird things. First it was the lights turning off and on, then noises. Then, there was an image of a man wearing stripes, then sounds of things dropping that weren't really there. I'm not crazy either, my husband saw the light issue and my mother heard things dropping. Don't get me wrong, this doesn't happen on a daily basis, but often enough to become an issue. What happened to me today really made me freak out...Walking into the kitchen, my black kitchen spoons that were drying in the dish rack turned into a black cat with fangs then turned back to the spoons. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm a very educated and realistic girl that refuses to believe in ghosts. I know what I saw, now I just want to know what you think it means. What does it mean to have seen this false image?
I think your house is haunted. Call ghost hunters. There really are people out there that want to come to your house and look for ghosts. I know I would. Sorry if you're getting scared. I would be too. I think you may need to open your mind a little more though. I've heard that ghosts become stronger also when you're scared of them or you make them mad. What does it mean to have seen this false image?
that's crazy. 'You better start believing in ghost stories, your in one' - captain barbosa

maybe your house is haunted or possesed. Maybe you've been invaded by bad spirits.
well you could be seeing flase image, if your on drugs.

i think you should find a psychic to check up your house.

for most people, if it doesnt harm them, they would just ignore it.

is your house a new build house?
if it isnt ghosts, then you are hallucinating.
It sounds like there is some form of spiritual (possibly ghostly) manifestation occurring in your house. Does the land that you own have a history? The man with the stripes seems somewhat important to me for some reason. You may want to look into what happened there (despite the fact that its a new house) before you moved. The black cat is also quite symbolic; black cats are typically associated with things that are unlucky, witches, the occult, and other mishaps and suspicions that deal with misfortune. It is possible that that may be a representation of things to come if you don't heed warning. You also may want to look into poltergeists, despite the fact that things aren't actually being thrown around. Poltergeists like to make a mess of things. This definitely sounds like some paranormal phenomena is occurring.
I've heard some old houses may have a mind altering gas that makes you here or see things. It would be the most reasonable explanation considering others heard it, if your still wondering why they heard and saw the same things, you mentioned it and it was on their minds, so they ended up seeing the same things
    Sounds pretty scary.

Is it possible to remote veiw a false image?

    im speaking of ed dames!

then he remote veiwed the mark of the beast and declared that the mark is a vacination. not a computer chip. and in the same interveiw he said the false prophet was the Television, no one answered the previous question correctly. because no one listened to the audio file.

now im listening to Jim sparks ! and he is talking about ET techonology which seems to control everything including dreams and emotions.

and of course Harry potter witchcraft is seen to expose the ability to save ';memories';.

if one can save memories one can also create memories and thus lead a remote veiwer to a false image as well. is this true. or not?Is it possible to remote veiw a false image?
I really think it depends on the person and their training. If there is something mentally/emotionally wrong with the person, I would think that their visions could be off.

Now on that note, Ed Dames apparently worked for the CIA and developed the Stargate program. Hmmm... It was ';shut down'; and Ed is claiming that it was because the Military didn't want people to find out about it. There may be more to this story, but I gather he wasn't up for the job. Like I said, he may have succumbed to a mental break down of some sort. I mean, this type of thing isn't easy to do, it takes not only the ability, but a concentrated mind.

Now this Jim Sparks fellow sounds like someone spoofed from Scientolgy. I could be wrong.

PS Please don't get me wrong, I believe in aliens. There is no way they do not exist. We don't even know everything about our own planet, much less others. There is something to be said about alien technology, it's out there! Is it possible to remote veiw a false image?
Ed Dames is a bit of a sensationalist. He is a verified RVer, but....he's a bit over the edge if you ask me. I think he's started to believe his own hype.

Years ago I hung out in his ';company';s chat room. About half the people there were sad, desperate folks who only wanted superpowers (sound familiar?) and the other half were sane, curious and intelligent people who really wanted to learn a skill that would allow them to help people.

What Ed is doing now where he knows what he is going to remote view is a breach of proper RV technique and protocol. The viewer should not know the target, only the key that goes to the target. He thinks he can ';break the rules'; because he's advanced, but the rules are there for a reason....to prevent viewers from going mad!

    Let me explain the situation:

A couple months ago, I started producing a comic that I used my HP Pavilion to create and Adobe Photoshop to polish. I thought what I had was a decent finished product, so I sent it to a couple of my friends.

They told me that the image was choppy and looked I had cut %26amp; pasted with windows paint and I had NO idea what they meant until I looked at the same image on a computer at school. It looked pretty bad, almost all my shading and the cuts %26amp; pastes I had made with the image looked blaringly obvious.

Any idea if this is a problem with my monitor or how to fix it? I've heard people tell me hat it's because I'm using a PC instead of a mac for art production, but I don't entirely believe that.

Let me stress that it has nothing to do with my actual skills in the programs, my problem is that the same image on my computer and on other computers do not look the sameWhy does my computer show a false image?
your computer is probably got better video card than theres is allWhy does my computer show a false image?
Export from Photoshop as a .pdf if you can. This will preserve the subtly of what you have done and present it in a consistent manner. PC, Mac or LInux will display them correctly.

    Good luck.
are you saving the image as .jpg

You can just upload your image to Imageshack.us and see if it still crap.

  • How do i deal with the false image i have of my loving bf?

Ok ..well my bf and i had a huge fight...and everytime we have fights its usually because of his trust issues and jealousy problems....He doesn't stop me from doing things...but he gets upset when i do things he doesnt like...and i feel bad and go out of my way to make sure he knows he can trust me. Ok no i didnt cheat on him...it was his ex, she cheated on him twice and now he is all insecure and doesnt want the same things to happen to me. Whenever we fight i get really scared...he gets angry...he doesnt yell or anything...but he does swear (not at me)...he's never called me a ***** ..he's said things like dont be stupid...but everyone says that...He also has a tendency to take his anger out on a punching bag...and he's like ';we;re gonna smash that guy';...i know thats all just talk because he has never been in a fight before...and always avoids it...Ok so to get to the point....i have this misconception about my bf that is really getting in the way...and im not handling his issues too well...he looks to me to talk it out and instead i get angry at him for having those problems...get scared cause i feel like his jealousy will make him physically abusive and although we have been together for 1.5 years and he has never been rough with me...and is always only loving and affectionate to me...because i hear through things that insecure people can get all abusive....i get really scared and i dont help him when he wants 2 talk about something...and instead get all angry and defensive myself. What do i do about this? I talked to him about it...and what i think/feel and he was understanding but he got really insulted because he says that he loves and cares for me so much he could never be like that 2 me and that it sucks i see him this way and he doesnt know what to do...and neither do i? I really want to get rid of this whole scenario i have...he's been really supportive with friends, family and personal problems ive had recently...and although he wants me to himself a lot...hes put things past him to be there for me...so i love this guy...i just want to stop the false image of him,...how?How do i deal with the false image i have of my loving bf?
hmm.. just support him and talk to him all the time. tell him what you want and someday he'll listen. guys can act tough all the time but they're not, be patient. How do i deal with the false image i have of my loving bf?
Wow....That sounds like my problem. Well you should tell him you appreciate him being...somewhat protective of you, but remind him that you do have a life and that he has to accept that you will be around other people. If he gets pissed off once you tell him this,, then he doesnt care about hom you feel and isnt willing to put you before himself. If he backs off a little bit, then you know its working. Good luck!!! :)

Why do people praise a false image of Jesus Christ?

The only depictions of Jesus Christ that we have are of what appears to be a white man with long brown hair and a beard. Naturally his eyes have been painted in colored assortments of blue to brown over the years.

(Perhaps the artists own eye color)

Basically my question is for those that see this image and keep these pictures in their lives for worship, but either accept or fail to understand that noone during that time period had long hair and that in most cases due to the location would not have had white skin. It would be more likely that Jesus had brown skin and black curly hair.

So why praise an image of the ';Son of God'; when you see that even the rendition of that character is falsified? Why do people praise a false image of Jesus Christ?
2 Corinthians 11:4 says this would happen Why do people praise a false image of Jesus Christ?
    First: lets get something straight. ';noone'; isn't a word....it's ';no one';

Second: I don't and never have worshiped the picture of Jesus. I don't even have one in my house and never had. Frankly, I don't care what He looked like. It is the man Himself that truly is the issue.
Jesus wasn't white, he would be the color of the people of his region when he was walked the earth. Just like we would if we didn't move about. I don't care if Jesus is white, black or what ever I'll know him when I see him as my Lord and Savior. Just like if I had scars from burns over my entire body, he will still know me. He knows my heart and that's more important!
i think it is better to believe in him as we know about him, and not to picture him as we want and as we imagine,

    just what we know,
Because so many people don't bother to learn they are following a Catholic depiction of Jesus, originating in the 14 - 1500's.

Even those that know it conclude if the Catholic church offers it, it must be true. Doih!!!.

If Jesus' personal features were important, then the Bible would have mentioned them. I, for one, do not care what Jesus Christ looked like. When I see Him again I will KNOW who He is.
I still don't understand why Christians celebrate the death of thier Jesus on Easter. Why would you celebrate the death of your god?
He's white because most Christians are white.
Well, it technically can't be false if he never even existed in the first place.
Yeah I've always wondered this too. And Christians aren't meant to worship false idols. Naughty naughty!
You don't worship his hair or eyes, just his teachings.
You are right and Christians realize this and you are raining on their parade.
why would you worship an idol period even if it was the perfect image of god? didnt he say not to worship idols?
    Because there's no true one.
    put your crack pipe down.......

Why do people watch tv fiction stories, while knowing that this is all false/ image and no reality???

For entertainment purposes, or mayhaps to escape their own lives. Exactly the same as reading, watching sports, listening to music...pretty much any hobby really. Why do people watch tv fiction stories, while knowing that this is all false/ image and no reality???
I think the above answerer covered it.. but I'll add.. the same reason we are in Yahoo meeting everyone and their opinions, and dancing with their expertise....to get another persons view. Why do people watch tv fiction stories, while knowing that this is all false/ image and no reality???
Pure entertainment! Don't you know that all the tv shows, besides the reality shows and the talk shows (and even some of THOSE!) are fiction? The only thing on TV that isn't fiction are the news and real sports. And unfortunately, sometimes the news are worse than fiction....

People sometimes need an escape from reality, and hence, they turn to fiction to dream of faraway lands and of different times, different places......
bcoz fictional films r more interesting.. %26amp; normally they have d best sound effects
To feel happy tht life is easier as compared to the lead characters of stupid serials
For entertainment, and to feel good, get a laugh, shed a tear, etc.

Kids, young people, why do you like music that takes no talent to play or sing, that is all about false image?

So many people wouldn't answer my last question, why not go for broke? Please answer my question. You know what I mean. Girls who cant really sing, music created on a MAC. Please.Kids, young people, why do you like music that takes no talent to play or sing, that is all about false image?
Mainly because people like that just got lucky, their parent had connections and got them into the business to terrorize people.

Don't mistake me for someone who likes a Corporate Disney tween!

EDIT: Because they want to.Kids, young people, why do you like music that takes no talent to play or sing, that is all about false image?
Sometimes very simple songs happen to have very catchy tunes.
Just because you don't like doesn't mean it has no value. People once said the same thing about rock'n'roll. So quit ranting.
Okay, I'll answer your little ';question';. It is your opinion that the music is false. Who are you to say what is real and what is not? It is your opinion that the singers have no talent.

I love Keyshia Cole, Brandy, most types of trance music, Fantasia, and certain contemporary rock. But then again, since you haven't even given any of it a chance, you wouldn't know Keyshia Cole from coleslaw.

Speaking of false images, do you watch movies or TV? Do you read magazines? If you do, then that can be considered ';false';. The actors are airbrushed, the advertisers are lying through their teeth about their products etc. That's entertainment for you. People are looking for an escape from reality, not actual reality so there's going to be an elements of falsity and a ';larger than life'; aura.

Just let people listen to what they want.
its not really about the music anymore. Its about image and catch phrases.

There are a bunch of songs out that are completely idiotic and simple minded but people love them because of the person performing it.If they look cool and they have a catchy phrase then people will flock to them.

I think a part of it also is what is what other people like.If someone famous likes a certain artist and they mention it on air then alot of people will start to listen to that artist not because they really like them but bcause its the cool thing to do.
Well, I am a little too old to know whats ';hot'; right now, so provide some examples of what you think is talentless, and what musicians you feel are deserving of the title ';talented'; and not playing up to an image.
Because it's still music..its different to everyone. It doesn't matter what type it is. I like hip-hop, pop and a bit of rap because i just do. I know some of them don't mean anything but it's really fun to dance to.

Mostly accurate, but you could go further in depth. It's true that the regions are tall grasses dotted by wildflowers, but there is much more to the geography of it than that.

Why do believers make false image about atheist?

but yet some are kind and good people trying to make a life out them self.

yet they dont see a loving god at all but most of them self

whats the differenceWhy do believers make false image about atheist?
I totally understand and feel for you. There are some really really rude people out there who are ignorant and just like to hack at someone who is different then them. Of course not all believers do this, but when so many do (especially on this site) how can you even see the good ones? It's really a shame. Going on this site surprises me all the time on how badly others treat others, like their racist only with spirituality. I am not athiest, but Catholic, and still many false images are thrown at us. But I say, if people really cared, wouldn't they show some respect and wisdom when it comes to talking about something that is very diverse and sensitive. I wish they would just grow up. I hope you learn to IGNORE these people, and find confidence in yourself and know not to give them the time of day. PeaceWhy do believers make false image about atheist?
Because there is NO SUCH THING as an athiest. To not believe in God you have to believe that there is a God to not believe in. They just don't want to have anything to believe in so they say that ther is no God. Which is not true. If u think it will make sense. You can't say that u don't belive in something without beliving that it is ther. All u have to do is think about this: We belive that there is air but we can't see it. If u said that u didn't believe in air that meant that u know it existes but u just don't believe in it. Does that make sense?
I am an atheist (I don't believe in a god), and I don't really care of what christians say about me. I am what I am, I have the right to choice what I want to believe in and not to christen my daughter.

I appreciate most of the commandments and I am a good person
I think atheists pretty much create their own images...as we all do.

Reputations are perceived oin us by the population as to how we live out lives AND what we profess. With more than 80% of the population processing to be Christians, you do the math...........
I don't make false judgments about anyone. Everyone has the right to choose their beliefs. If you choose not to believe in God, I can accept that. I will worry about your soul, but I will accept your choice. I don't think you have to be a Christian to be a good human being. I think you have to be a Christian to have eternal life with God.
it's the belief in cosmic superiority. If a culture can believe they will not only go to heaven, but will be rewarded among others then it will take the chance.
Because they are so stuck on something they were brought up on. That they get to a point where they think that their believes are the only ones to have.
    Not quite sure.

I think I remember there being some rule

    ';Though shalt not bare false witness';

But I think most christians stop reading the 10 commandments after the fifth line.
Cause their book says that people who 'say in their hearts there is no God' are fools and evil and wicked people, and most of them don't know any atheists (at least no one that they *know* is an atheist) to contradict what their book says.
OK. Now ask a good question. Please!

GUYS, The image of confidence a girl/women portrays, in most cases do you find its a false image?

and is it easy for you to read through?

Just askin cuz I think a lot of girls/women put out a false image and don't realize how easy guys (not all) sniff out our vulnerablitites, and use it to their advantage.

ThxGUYS, The image of confidence a girl/women portrays, in most cases do you find its a false image?
If they portray confidence and have a poor choice of words i know they are misrepresenting themselves. Girls that are authentically smart are always noticeable and genuinely confident.

Girls that are very social but somewhat obnoxious or have a poor choice of words are not confident, just immature.

Confidence in girls comes from brains and integrity- these things cant be misrepresented.GUYS, The image of confidence a girl/women portrays, in most cases do you find its a false image?
yes it is easy to see.

  • Does the bible fall short of reality, promoting a false image that a life in faith is one free of trouble?

If you have faith, you're oblivious to your troubleDoes the bible fall short of reality, promoting a false image that a life in faith is one free of trouble?
No way! On the contrary. the Bible tells us that we will have trouble in this life. People will hate us for being a Christian.

This is discussed all through the gospels and in other books of the New Testament.

Nowhere in The Bible is it said that a life in faith is one free of trouble.

Where in the world did you get that idea?Does the bible fall short of reality, promoting a false image that a life in faith is one free of trouble?
The Bible portrays many false images. Faith doesn't mean one is free of troubles. Faith sees us through life's tribulations. These tribulations are lessons for our souls.
No, but our faith helps us endure our hardships........
Nowhere in the Bible does it say that a life of faith is free of trouble--Jesus told His disciples that ';in the world you will have tribulation';. Faith helps overcome trouble, that's how faith grows.
As a Christian myself for over 37 yrs. i have not find anywhere that the bible says that having faith will be a bed of roses, We are to be tested %26amp; Tried, In fact anyone that claims that they don't have test %26amp; trials, they should really see if they really have God, Because if satan has you, then why would satan try to make your life misable, Being a Christain, does not make us happy every single mintue, because we will be tested. But in that test, we do have a comforter Called the Holy Ghost
The Bible promotes no such image, nor was any such life ever promised.
Considering that you can be a nun-rapist serial killing child molester and still go to heaven because you've accepted Jesus as your saviour. Yeah, I'd think so.
Absolutely not. No such image is promoted by the Bible. That's why one needs a Church with Authority, to protect the people from false interpretations such as you described.
have you ever read the bible? it is full of stories that show life is not abox of chocolates. those people had it harder than most do today...........they worked harder and died in crueler ways.........
I don't know what Bible you are reading to come to that strange idea. Mine reads different:

    John 16:33

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

    IHS Jim
Darned Tootin´it does! To argue with a man who renounces Logic or reason, is like giving medication to a corpse.
    no,,
    No, but you do
Nowhere in the Bible does it say that a life of faith is free of trouble.....
No!! What Bible are you reading, friend? Because mine paints a picture of the Christian life as one that is full of trouble. Jesus said that people would hate us because they hate Him. He said that we would have struggles with our own sinful nature too. It ain't easy, and anyone who says otherwise isn't quite being honest with you.

The Bible does indicate, however, that God will bless the one who lives a life of faith. And when we go through life as a born-again believer in Christ, He will be right there with us through all our troubles and we won't have to rely on ourselves to see us through anymore. Are there still troubles and heartaches? You bet, but now we have Someone to go through it with us, and it makes a big difference.
i'm not too sure where you got that idea. it's the exact opposite. so many faithful people in the bible suffered through the hardest of times. every one of the apostles save st john were executed because of their faith. the message isn't that God will provide a smooth ride; it's that He'll provide a safe landing and strengthen you along the way.
No, because the bible also says faith without works is dead. If someone needs a job, they can believe that God will provide one, BUT they also need to go and put in applications.
I fail to see where you are getting the idea that the Bible says a life of faith is one free of trouble.

In fact, the Bible says the exact opposite (John 15:18-27, and John 16:1-4.

Jesus makes it very clear that the world will scorn, mock, and revile you for your faith. But rather than let this upset or discourage you, you should rejoice in it.
The Bible is as real as Superman comics.

The Bible is as real as Mount Rushmore.
The Bible states that you must take up your cross daily if you are to be a follower of Christ. It also says they hated Him so they will also hate anyone who follows Him. It never painted a picture of a trouble free life, on the contrary, it cost everything to be a follower of Jesus. Most of the apostles were martyred save John and after much torture and attempted killings, he was finally banished to Patmos. There are no false pretenses in the Bible. The only thing that is promised about following Christ is that He will be with us always, giving us the peace and strength to persevere. The one's who do will inherit the kingdom of heaven.
The Bible DOES fall short of reality. However, it doesn't promote an image that a life of faith is one free from trouble. In fact, some of the most faithful people in the bible suffered some really nasty things.
There is nothing that says a life of faith is a life free of trouble. For that matter, it is more scriptural that a life of faith is such inspite of a life of troubles.

Such ideas as you mentioned are not so much scriptural, but man's idea of how he thinks life should be.
    No, actually it doesn't. If you read it you'll see that's quite the opposite really. A song I learned as a kid says ';He never promised you an easy road, he never said the sun would shine in the sky above. He only promised you that through it all He'll always hold you in His love.';

Not true. They portray women as sex objects which gives men the wrong idea.
Yeah I agree, you just have to remember that porn movies are fake. And so are the women in them.
I see plenty of extremely good looking woman that are real
no, i like to have sex like in porn movies, and i'm hot and real.

Anyway, porn movies is for masturbation, just like your movie in your head when you masturbate.
perhaps some people find real life disappointing because it's not like the movies, or they think that their favorite celebrities are the characters they play. same thing isn't it? the problem is not porn it's the inability (or unwillingness) to separate fantasy from reality.
You want to blame porn for giving men false images of women? Lets start with cosmo, vanity fair, other ';regular'; mags, then we can talk about most shows on t.v. Oh! Then there's the movies..
