How can I create a ';false'; color image of a JPG using GIMP?

Er, what do you mean?

If you're trying to just alter the original colors of the image, the EASIEST way is to go to the toolbar on the top of the window that the jpeg is displayed with in Gimp and select layer --%26gt; color tools --%26gt; hue and saturation. Check the 'preview' box and play around with the sliders.

If you want even more control over that, click on Curves and start moving the lines in there around.

You can also mess with it more by exploring the other color tools in the menu, such as Invert and Brightness/Contrast. Levels will alter the ratio and purity of blacks and whites in the image, allowing you more control over that. How can I create a ';false'; color image of a JPG using GIMP?
