Would you say that the media promotes a false image to women?

Please explain your opinion. Thank You.Would you say that the media promotes a false image to women?
Hell Yes and a sick image if that. Don't get me wrong I appreciate beauty but there is more to just being a pretty face.

The media has promoted a particular ';look'; that gives woman with normal lives a false sense of what they should look like. Unfortunately there is so much money being pumped into this look that a majority of woman who fall into this category will go out of their way to obtain this ';look';.

The media also plays into the fact of how a woman should act and respond in certain social settings. Its ridiculous to see woman acting out these made up roles, for example Sex in the City. I do agree that there can and maybe certain similarities in life that play out in this sitcom but to emulate fictional characters in real life is weak minded.

The media does not promote a healthy sense of accepting oneself as they are from within, as well as accepting their natural features of the face and body. I feel the media promotes shallowness, superficiality, materialistic pursuits and overall the image of a ';Stepford Wife'; clone, married or not.

Oh what do you know, its time for me to take my Stepford pill.......Would you say that the media promotes a false image to women?
10 years ago i would have said yeah, but t be honest i think that woman took the skinny thing WAY too fr. Everywhere i look now, clubs, mall, fast food joints EVERYWHERE, there is at least 2 ery VERY skinny women there in tight jeans and loose fitting shirts that swallow them whole causing them to look even MORE unhealthy. I weigh nice 135 and im 5';4, im not saying every woman should weigh what i weigh, im just saying to all of these chics that havent eaten since last week ...ITS ONLY A STEAK DONT BE SKEERD! lol. But i do a little bit, but i see more healthy woman in the media now than ever and im glad to know that they didnt stick with the skinny thing for too long. :)
yes for both men and women. there arent many models walking up and down the street. the media sometimes goes too far with trying to sell their products. they conjour up a commercial with a 6ft tall female with perfect hair perfect skin weighing 30lbs and they basically say if we buy their merchandise we will look like them. give me a break
Yes and to men too. When they are faced with a real woman with flaws they go -- what the hell!
